My Philosophy:
I have always had a passion for helping those in need. So, naturally, at an early age, I became a nurse. I’ve worked in many different settings including the Emergency Room, Plastic Surgery, Operating Rooms, Urgent Cares, Pediatric Departments, and Family Medicine. No matter what department I worked in, almost everyone who had a baby/toddler (didn’t matter if it was a patient, co-worker or a doctor) all complained of the same thing…Their little ones were horrible sleepers!
I didn’t get then. I use to think, “So, you got a few less hours of sleep last night. What’s the big deal?” Trust me…I GET IT NOW! It wasn’t until I had a baby of my own, who wasn’t sleeping, to fully understanding their struggles. On the third night after I hired a sleep consultant and witnessed my son sleep through the night, I knew I had to help other families like mine.
To me, being a Pediatric Sleep Consultant is just as rewarding, as well as beneficial to others, as is my job being a nurse. I know, first hand, how life changing getting your little one sleeping through the night can be for everyone in the family.
About Me:
Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE my sleep. Once I got pregnant with my son, I knew my days of sleeping till noon, napping all day and spending my days off in bed were over…and I was okay with that. What I was not prepared for, however, were the countless sleepless nights, the waking up every hour, and the pure physical, mental and emotional exhaustion that would come with a baby not sleeping.
I was a month from going back to work and the thought of having to going to work, running on little to no sleep terrified me! Working as a nurse, I have to be alert and fully-rested….because my patients’ safety and lives depend on it! I knew I had to do something about our sleeping issues. That’s when I found the Sleep Sense Program.
I started the sleep program with my little one when he was just eight weeks old. Needless to say it was life changing! By night three, he fell asleep on his own, without making a sound…and slept for EIGHT HOURS! I woke up in tears. I knew that morning I would not have to give up my career of being a nurse, due to my little one’s sleep issues. My son now sleeps 12-13 hours a night and LOVES his naps more than his Mommy does. He definitely is MY son!
